Husband and wife Latin American pianists William Villaverde and Fabiana Claure will be presenting a musical program entitled “A Piano Journey Through Latin America”. Works include Bolivian Cuecas, Brazilian tangos, Cuban classical and jazz-inspired music, an original Latin-jazz composition, and the Corvallis debut of a 4-hands piano arrangement of Piazzolla’s Tango Suite. Having been together for 20 years as a couple and on stage, this dynamic duo will engage audiences through piano music and story-telling, taking them through an exciting journey of diverse cultural influences, historical context, and musical reflection.

Fabiana Claure is a multifaceted concert artist and entrepreneur with an extensive career in performing, teaching, and music entrepreneurship. Her musical and business experience, as well as her international background—having lived in the US, Bolivia, and Cuba—have allowed her to gain an empowering and global perspective towards music education and career development. Fabiana is the Director of Career Development and Entrepreneurship in Music at the University of North Texas and the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Superior Academy of Music in Miami, FL. She has been featured as a soloist with orchestras in the US and Spain, and released a CD entitled “Fabiana Claure, Debut Album” including works by Bach, Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Andres Alen. As a concert pianist, William Villaverde has appeared in international music festivals in Cuba, Bolivia, Spain, and the United States. He has performed as a soloist with American and Spanish symphony orchestras. His CD “Cuban Memoirs” was released by the Delos label in 2018. A multi-competition winner, Dr. Villaverde was honored as an “Arts’ Laureate” by the Higher Institute of Arts in Cuba. Dr. Villaverde pursued his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance with a cognate in Jazz Performance from the University of Miami. As an educator, Dr. Villaverde has been a faculty member at the Cuban National School of Music, Nova Southeastern University and is the Co-Founder and Program Director at Superior Academy of Music.
